O’FALLON – The Evangel University Sinfonia Orchestra will appear in concert on Mother’s Day, May 8th, at O’Fallon Assembly of God at 1400 N. Green Mount Road according to Lead Pastor Donald Andreasen.
Over the past 20 years, the Sinfonia has toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada and will take its fifth European tour this year. From May 10-27, the Orchestra will perform 15 concerts in Italy, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
The repertoire of the Sinfonia includes classical, sacred and contemporary Christian arrangements for orchestra, as well as various arrangements for voices with orchestral accompaniment.
Since 1995, the Sinfonia has toured the 48 contiguous United States and 11 foreign countries. In addition, the group has recorded 10 compact discs. Among the orchestra’s touring highlights are its previous European tours in 1999, 2005, 2009, and 2012 as well as appearances in 2001 and 2007 on the Canadian television program “100 Huntley Street,” which has an estimated 15.4 million viewers.
Dr. Larry Dissmore, director of the Sinforia, has served on the Evangel University faculty since 1988. An accomplished violinist, Dissmore holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Wichita State University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
