O’FALLON – Over 125 people were on hand to witness the groundbreaking of Skyline Church.
The afternoon started off with Skyline Church member Josh Henry reading a proclamation from Senator Kyle McCarter and then Executive Pastor Scott Milford opened the groundbreaking ceremony in prayer and shared some history.
Senior Pastor Lance Johnson shared his excitement and some scripture about this building and project and the fact although it’s a church building, Skyline Church exists outside of their four walls. Since 2011, Skyline Church has been heavily involved in community outreach and partnership with local organizations that impact those in our community. Pastor Lance ended his comments with a challenge to all there – to walk and pray over the property before they left.
Ten gold shovels were handed out and the time had come to ceremonial break ground and celebrate a new beginning in Skyline Church. The past 13 years Skyline has met at O’Fallon Township High School and have grown to a congregation of 300 attendees.
The church purchased land in 2012. Over the next few months a project costing over $2.8 million consisting of 17,700 square feet of steel will come together and a beautiful new church building will be built. The architect is Matt Adams of Adams Architectural Associates and construction will be managed by Gary Gossett of Propper Construction.
