Social media contact leads to sexual abuse charges

O’FALLON – The O’Fallon Police Department have arrested a Damiensville man, charging him with sexual abuse after he made inappropriate contact with a a juvenile.

On March 26, 2018, the O’Fallon Police Department arrested Paul L. Jansen, 23, of Damiensville, Illinois.

Jansen’s arrest stemmed from a parental complaint about inappropriate contact made, by Jansen, to a juvenile via social media.

The O’Fallon Police Department’s investigation resulted in the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office issuing the following charges:

3 Counts Aggravated  Criminal Sexual Abuse

3 Counts Traveling to Meet a Minor

1 Count Grooming

1 Count Indecent Solicitation of a Child

Jansen’s bail was set at $200,000.00. Jansen was remanded to the custody of the St. Clair County Jail. The O’Fallon Police Department is continuing to investigate Jansen’s past activity.

Jansen is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
