The rain held off allowing hospital officials, medical staff, local dignitaries, and members of the public to take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony at the new St. Elizabeth’s Hospital off of North Green Mount Road Saturday morning.

HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital President and CEO Peg Sebastian enthusiastically explained what the day meant for her and her staff.

“It truly is a gift that the Hospital Sisters have given to us. And its more than just bricks and mortar, it really is the opportunity to continue the healing ministry of Christ and expand our reach to greater numbers of people that need us and to be able to keep people on this side of the river. Not because its a competition, but its because care should be local. You should be able to stay home. Your family should be able to get to you quickly in an emergency. That’s what region leading healthcare is about and that’s what we’re presenting today,” Sebastian said.

Sebastian explained why the O’Fallon location made so much sense to HSHS and why the property fit their needs.
