HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers Scholarship Committee recently awarded two $1,000 scholarships to area students through the annual HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Auxiliary Volunteer Scholarship program.
The recipients were Emily Stock, a graduate from Belleville West High School who plans to attend St. Louis College of Pharmacy in the fall, and Matthew Warren, a graduate of O’Fallon Township High School who will be attending Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana this fall and plans to study biology and go on to become a doctor. Matthew and Emily were both chosen from eleven applicants to receive the $1,000 scholarship to go towards their schooling.
The Auxiliary Volunteer Scholarship is offered to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital colleagues and volunteers, as well as their spouses, children and grandchildren. The scholarship winners were chosen from a blind process based on volunteer hours, resume and letters of recommendation. Applicants also had to provide a short answer about the career goals they plan to achieve.
The St. Elizabeth’s Auxiliary Volunteers Scholarship Committee is proud to offer these scholarships to support the educational goals of students like Emily and Matthew, and encourage others in the St. Elizabeth’s family to apply for the scholarship next year. Applications become available in March and must be returned by May 31, 2017.
