O’FALLON – Kate Riepe, a fourth grader at St. Clare Catholic School, recently wrote a persuasive essay about her favorite restaurant, Sugarfire. She explained that she loved Sugarfire because “[it] has awesome food, service and atmosphere.”

After learning of the essay, Sugarfire 64 owner Gregg Medeiros was so touched he named a sandwich after Kate, The Great Kate. The sandwich consists of pulled pork, mac ’n cheese, and pickles in between grilled cheese.

On Wednesday, members of the Sugarfire team catered lunch for Kate and the rest of the fourth graders at St. Clare. Kate was thrilled to be able to share her favorite meal with her classmates.
