O’FALLON – It was another productive week for the O’Fallon Panthers baseball team. The Panthers won all four of their games including some hardware as they won the O’Fallon Triad Baseball Classic and now stretch their record to 24-3.

O’FALLON – The Lady Panthers softball team have had nearly as many postponement and cancellations as they have scheduled games this season, and they were coming off two previous cancelled games. But the weather proved perfect for the Tuesday, May 2 match up against the Belleville East Lady Lancers at OTHS Milburn.

Panthers take win on Senior Night

O’FALLON – Tuesday May 2 was an afternoon honoring the five seniors of the O’Fallon boys tennis team. Seniors Adam Spihlman, Chase Holland, Matthew Spradling and Chris Wu were featured during the afternoon’s match up. Fellow class of 2017 member Blake Heimann was present, though sidelined with an injury. Posters with photos of the seniors in action graced the fence line for spectators to see as the match took place.

The senior leadership was obvious as the Panthers took on the Althoff High School Crusaders and walked away with the win, 7-2.

Lady Panthers win big at rescheduled Senior Night

O’FALLON – Before the games all over the St. Louis area and for huge parts of the Midwest, it was just nice to be outside and enjoy a rain-free day. For the O’Fallon Panthers girls lacrosse team, it has been a season of ups and downs with results and the weather.

Panthers defeat Ladue Rams in final home game of season

O’FALLON – Last season the O’Fallon Panthers and Ladue Rams battled toe-to-toe, but ultimately it was the Rams who came out on top 10-9. This year, the Panthers wanted revenge and to send off the seniors in style with their last home game of the season.

Junior Andrew Smith tallied six goals to propel the Panthers to a 9-3 victory over the Rams on a chilly Friday night in O’Fallon.

Panthers place fourth in Southwestern Boys Volleyball tournament

O’FALLON – The O’Fallon Panthers hosted a ten-team Southwestern Illinois Boys varsity volleyball tournament on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6. Some teams, the Panthers had seen before. Other teams would prove to be a new challenge for O’Fallon.

Friday night and Saturday morning provided pool play. Two pools of five teams were set up, each team playing the other four teams in their division. The Panthers first took on Oakville High School, defeating the Tigers in two games, 25-18 and 25-21. Their next challenge came from St. Mary’s. O’Fallon took the first game 25-19, but dropped the second game 20-25. The third game proved to be a nail biter with enough back and forth, with only two points separating the winner. The points landed in St. Mary’s favor and they took the third game 15-13. The Panthers bounced back, taking Francis Howell in two games, 25-18, 25-15.

O’Fallon Model UN Delegation wins awards at McKendree session

LEBANON – The Model United Nations was in session at McKendree University April 10, 11, and 12. O’Fallon students performed with great distinction, winning a multitude of awards for their excellence.

The Model United Nations gives students the opportunity to examine a wide range of international issues and to do so from a point of view that students, perhaps, had never considered before becoming a delegate. The skills of research, writing, public speaking and debate are all developed by the experience. There were fifteen area high schools participating in the Model United Nations along with OTHS.

Hartmann, Jones named 2017 OTHS Prom Queen and King

ST. LOUIS – It was a magical and rainy night for OTHS students attending the annual prom at the Hyatt Regency in downtown St. Louis. Following a nice meal, some dancing and fun, and the introduction of the prom court, it was time to announce the winners of Prom King and Queen.

Jessica Hartmann and Aaron Jones were named the 2017 royalty.

Lady Panthers place second in St. Clair County Track Meet

EAST ST. LOUIS – After weather forced a postponement, the St. Clair County Girls Track Invitational took place at East St. Louis High School on Thursday, April 27. The grass was saturated, but the track was clear for the girls of O’Fallon, Belleville East, Belleville West, East St. Louis, Mascoutah and Lebanon to run their hearts out.

District 203 Board receives legislative update on property tax reform

O’FALLON – Legislation being considered in Springfield that would make large changes to the current property tax code was the subject of Superintendent Darcy Benway’s presentation at the monthly District 203 Board of Education meeting.

A Note from the Superintendent’s Desk – More than 390 school district superintendents urge Springfield to pass state budget

Dr. Darcy G. Benway, Superintendent of O’Fallon Township High School District #203 joins more than 390 school chiefs from across the state, representing 1.3 million students, in calling for the Illinois General Assembly to immediately pass a state budget. The grassroots initiative, called “Pass Illinois’ Budget!,” also urges lawmakers and the Governor to improve the state’s education funding formula, and pay school districts millions of dollars owed in unpaid bills this year.

St. Jude’s the real winner of the boys vs. girls lacrosse match

O’FALLON – Even the wind and chill couldn’t dim the excitement and competition on the OTHS turf as the boys and girls lacrosse teams faced off for St. Jude’s. Or “boizs vs. girlz” as the scoreboard read. The crowd rolled with laughter as each team was announced with cheerful taunting and nicknames made up on the spot. Adding to the show, several players took exaggerated bows or even cartwheels to play off their captive audience’s energy. The girls sported wacky colored shorts, while the boys went all out in skirts or tutus and even a pair of fairy wings.
