IDPH director says Illinois is at war

Illinois Department of Public Health Dr. Ngozi Ezike said that Illinois is at war with an invisible enemy. As fatalities hit a single day record and Governor JB Pritzker unveiled his plan to return Illinois to a semblance of normal, the doctor urged residents to take personal responsibility.

Illinois hit the second highest single day coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case total and the highest single day fatality total with 2,219 confirmed cases and 144 deaths. Even as the numbers appear grave, testing levels remain high and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike says there’s hope.

Illinois daily death toll hits highest number to date

Illinois has had the highest daily death total so far due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with 125 lives lost in the past 24 hour period. In the face of the increasing number, Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike said increased testing for the virus and antibodies is how we will be able to reopen the state.
