SPRINGFIELD — All of Gov. JB Pritzker’s executive orders since April 8 pertaining to the novel coronavirus pandemic are void because he exceeded his authority when he used his emergency powers for more than 30 days, a Clay County judge ruled Thursday.

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois House voted Wednesday afternoon to remove Republican state Rep. Darren Bailey, of Xenia, from session at the Bank of Springfield Center after he refused to comply with a facial-covering requirement in newly-adopted House rules.
The Illinois Attorney General’s office filed a notice to appeal a downstate judge’s ruling releasing one Republican representative from the governor’s executive orders, according to court documents.
Illinois hit the second highest single day coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case total and the highest single day fatality total with 2,219 confirmed cases and 144 deaths. Even as the numbers appear grave, testing levels remain high and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike says there’s hope.
