Damage occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning to several vehicles in the Home Depot lot and to an Auffenberg Chrysler Jeep dealership showroom.

O’Fallon Police Captain Dave Matevey said “We did have several vehicles that were broken into on the Home Depot parking lot overnight.  The vehicles belonged to Home Depot employees who were working an overnight shift.  Around the same time, Auffenberg Chrysler Jeep was also burglarized.  The suspects smashed out a large glass window to gain access to the dealership and attempted to steal a Dodge Challenger.”

“ The Dodge Challenger became lodged in the frame of the building when the suspects attempted to drive the vehicle out of the dealership, and they were unsuccessful in stealing the vehicle.  Auffenberg reports no other vehicles were taken from the dealership,” said Matevey.

He continued  “Home Depot (1706 W. Hwy 50) and Auffenberg Chrysler Jeep (176 Auto Court) in close proximity to each other and believe both crimes were perpetrated by the same suspects.  We responded to Auffenberg 2:17 a.m., the Home Depot incident occurred just before that.  We are actively investigating both incidents and are following up on leads.  If anyone has information about either incident, we would ask them to contact the O’Fallon Police Department at 618-624-4545.”
