O’FALLON – The O’Fallon VFW Post 805 and Auxiliary is far more than a watering hole for local veterans. While the social aspect of working with the VFW is something that many veterans seek out when joining local chapters, the VFW has so many more services that they offer to veterans and their families. On Saturday, the O’Fallon VFW and Auxiliary held a day of free haircuts for local veterans along with a panel of local businesses, services and groups that the VFW works with along with a delicious hot meal and lots of great conversation.

O’Fallon resident Ron Gilreath said that while the VFW Canteen and Bar is a great “fundraiser” for this chapter of the VFW, they hold fairs and events like the one on Saturday to bring awareness to all of the other services that the VFW offers to veterans; everything from job placement to education, financial assistance and counseling- especially in order to raise suicide awareness. The ultimate goal of the VFW is to use kindness to help each veteran live life to the fullest, in every single aspect.
