O’FALLON – O’Fallon fire fighters responded Saturday morning to a down power line behind Peel Wood Fired Pizza at the intersection of Cherry Street and Second Street.

Fire Chief Brent Saunders said heavy wind and the weight of plastic insulators caused the line to fall. The line was still active and burning the power pole it was attached to when fire crews arrived on the scene.

Fire fighters secured the area, preventing anyone from going near the line. Limited power disruptions took place along the block starting at Peel, heading east.

At nearly 10 a.m., O’Fallon fire fighters were waiting on Ameren to arrive at the scene to shut off power to the line and begin repairs.

No one was injured and no property damage was reported.
